Government, banks, financial elites: they all hate one thing above all else. They hate the freedom of choice when it comes to money. They hate when people have the ability to decide when and how they transact, especially if this means that the form of transaction cannot be tracked and taxed.
For this very reason, there has been a campaign against gold via mouthpieces in the lame-stream media and through "appointed" government officials.
The financial elite know that gold offers the ability and freedom of choice that allows people to circumvent the financial prison that has been created for these elites’ "customers."
It is well known that there has been a war on gold, but more recently a new story has begun to rise: the war on cash. The financial elites are more and more turning their attentions to the use of cash and they cannot help but show their loathing towards it.
Joining the ranks of those who hate our current cash system is Norway's largest bank, DNB. This bank just recently made the call for their country to stop the use of cash. Of course the reasons that they give are all for the betterment of its customers and the people of Norway. Yet those in the precious metals community know the true purpose of these calls.
Cash is not ideal compared to gold and silver or any other hard-backed currency, but it is still leaps and bounds better than the system that the banksters would like to see us under: the "cashless society" that they dream about.
Under this system, there would be no physical existence of money at all. There would be no way of getting your money out of the hands of the banksters. It would be perpetually locked into their system, hence there would be no bank runs and no way of getting out if your country is going down the tubes.
In addition to this, ALL of your purchases could be monitored and tracked, providing greater control over citizens. ALL transactions could be taxed and a great blow to the barter system that the banking elite hate so much would be inflicted. Finally, if needed to help support a failing government, all transactions could have a fee applied to them.
Essentially, the thing you have to understand when reading this growing call for a "cashless society" is the end game. The end game is simple: it is what all governments eventually reach for - utter and complete control over its population. It's an end game that must be fought every step of the way.
